ID Sales of electric vehicles, especially hybrid and pure electric types, continue to increase in Indonesia. This cannot be separated from the steps taken by various four-wheeled manufacturers in the country, who are starting to launch many of their flagship line-ups in this environmentally friendly segment.
Based on data from the Association of Indonesian Automotive Industries (Gaikindo), from January to June 2023, from wholesalers or factories to dealers, the combined sales of hybrid and electric cars reached 23,153 units.
Hybrid Car
In the hybrid car category, the Toyota Innova Zenix hybrid is the best seller, with sales of 9,262 units throughout the first semester of 2023.
In detail, the Toyota Innova Zenix hybrid Q Modellista variant was the best-selling, with sales of 4,454 units, followed by the V Modellista variant, which was successfully distributed with 2,120 units.
Meanwhile, another hybrid model from Toyota, namely the Corolla Cross hybrid, was also able to send 841 units during the first six months of this year. Then, there are the Camry hybrid and Yaris Cross hybrid, which are the newest models from the Japanese automotive giant, with sales of 292 units and 97 units, respectively.
Toyota's luxury brand, Lexus, is also not behind in selling its hybrid cars, offering the RX350h and ES 300h, with sales from January to June 2023, respectively, of 473 units and 104 units.
Electric Cars
Switching to pure electric models, sales of these battery-powered cars throughout the first semester of 2023, based on Wholesale data, reached 5,849 units.
Talking about models, the Hyundai Ioniq 5 is the best-selling, with sales reaching 3,543 units. The figure for the first six months of 2023 is even higher than sales of the same model throughout last year, which were only 1,829 units.
. . The second best-selling model is the Wuling Air EV, with sales of 1,654 units in the first semester of 2023. Then, in the next position, there is the BMW iX xDrive40 with sales of 178 units, then the Toyota bZ4X with 155 units, and the Nissan Leaf, which only sold 61 units.
The next position is DFSK Gelora E with 51 units sent, 44 units of the Mercedes-Benz EQS 450+, 39 units of the Mini Cooper SE Hatch, 39 units of the BMW i440 Gran Coupe, and 30 units of the Lexus UX300e.
Outside of the top 10 best-selling electric cars in Indonesia, there is the KIA EV6 with wholesale sales of 22 units, the Mercedes-Benz EQE 350 with 22 units, the Lexus RZ450e with 7 units, the Morris Garage ZS EV with 3 units, and the Genesis G80 which only sold 1 unit.
